About Doug
I have been married to my wife, Ashley, for 18 years. We have four kids: Sam (14), Max (10), Josephine (8), and Johnny (6). We have lived in Bloomington, MN, for the past 17 years and are currently attending Hillside Church in Bloomington.  Ashley works as a teacher for Hand in Hand Christian Montessori in Wayzata, where our kids go to school.

I was working as a financial planner fresh out of college when I first sensed God calling me to the topic of financial stewardship.  And it was more than a 'sense,' it was actually a very clear moment.  Teaching financial stewardship has been intertwined with my life and career ever since.

As regards work, over the last 18 years, I have spent 6 years serving as a financial planner and 12 years in non-profit work.

I was in full-time stewardship ministry for two years, and then went on afterwards to continue teaching stewardship workshops, have done considerable preaching and teaching on stewardship, and have done some writing, particularly on what the Bible shares about Christians sharing with the ‘least of these.’  I have helped steer financial committees and actively serve on several non-profit boards.

While working at a university, I earned a master’s degree in Intercultural Leadership and had the privilege of serving as a Vice President.  I was the professor of record for several classes, including the Stewardship of Fundraising and Career Development.  I had the opportunity to reimagine our global programming, our donor development division, and directly assisted over 400 missionaries in raising full support to serve overseas for one or more years.

I have hundreds of hours of experience speaking in front of rooms of people and love seeing people experience 'aha!’ moments.  I work hard to make sure my content is clear, that I’m not ‘recreating the wheel,’ and open the room up for engagement and conversation.  I love learning and expect to learn each time I’m with a group of people.
